IES Standards

What is IES?

Established in 1906, the Illuminating Engineering Society is the recognized technical and educational authority on illumination. With the mission to improve the lighted environment by bringing together those with lighting knowledge and by translating that knowledge into actions that benefit the public.

The Illuminating Engineering Society publishes and maintains the Lighting Library®, with over 100 standards written by subject matter experts.

With over 8,000 members around the world, IES is the go-to resource for anyone looking to stay up-to-date on the latest lighting design trends and best practices. With a focus on sustainability, IES is at the forefront of efforts to develop more energy-efficient lighting systems that deliver superior performance and enhance the user experience.
